Another iconic song heralds the arrival of OTTO’s 2017 Christmas film

With the festive season just around the corner, one thing is certain: another cinematic and music-focussed OTTO Christmas film will be on screens soon.

After the award-winning success of featuring a haunting choral version of “Time After Time” in OTTO’s 2016 Christmas movie, an animated feature titled ‘The Most Precious Gift,’ we are happy to be working again a music supervision/ rights clearance capacity on this year’s OTTO Christmas story, ‘Gemeinsam wird’s Weihnachten.’ This recently premiered short, made with Berlin’s Heimat agency, The Mill, Bigfish and Ridley Scott Associates, similarly features a cover version of classic song, that helps to deliver the film’s narrative message.

Gemeinsam wird’s Weihnachten is set in the mountains of rural Bolivia, and follows one weary bus driver through his day, as he transports bus passengers with their packages, livestock and Christmas trees along the precarious mountain roads towards home. With just a handful of passengers remaining on the journey, including one visiting North American, a rocky landslide traps the bus and its passengers in a remote and precarious position.

Throughout the film the iconic Spanish-language holiday song, “Feliz Navidad,” plays through the radio, but as tempers flare and emotions rise amongst the stranded strangers on the bus, the song returns in a new version, to unite this gathering of people, to unexpectedly experience the togetherness of season.

Not only can the film now be watched in full below, OTTO have provided an early Christmas gift of their own, in the shape of a free MP3 download of this re-recording of “Feliz Navidad” just in time for the festive season.
