Sculpting Sound for Speed: Composition for Xiaomi’s Vision GT
When Xiaomi approached us to create the score for the Vision Gran Turismo campaign film, the challenge was clear: craft music that could feel as precise, aerodynamic, and alive as the car itself. Every frame demanded sound that moved with the car, reflecting its futuristic design and the intuition of high-performance engineering.
The Vision: Music in Motion
The Vision Gran Turismo is more than a car: it’s a concept for what the hypercar of the future could be. Sculpted by wind, balanced by force, performance and comfort in perfect sync. Our goal was to translate these ideas into a sonic language. We approached the score as a space where innovation and emotion coexist. Minimalism became a tool for focus, while cinematic textures created a sense of motion, depth, and tension.
From the first frame, the music needed to live inside the car’s world. We drew inspiration from sand: tiny particles shifting and flowing, interacting with natural forces, yet interpreted through a futuristic lens. The track blends electronic architecture with organic elements, like strings and subtle textures, creating a sound that is elegant, precise, and alive.
Crafting the Track: Artist and Approach
Finding the perfect balance between innovation and feeling was a careful, iterative process. Several rounds of testing helped us ensure that the score became part of the visuals. The music had to match the Vision Gran Turismo’s body and move seamlessly at high speed, guiding the viewer through every curve and aerodynamic line.
The composition approached this as both an engineering and emotional exercise. Every note, every texture was designed to mirror movement, resistance, and flow, creating a sonic counterpart to the hypercar’s sculpted form. The result is a minimal yet cinematic score where electronics and organic elements coexist, a soundscape that embodies both precision and intuition.
