Summer films: Nahschuss

If you are a sucker for German history, or generally just enjoy a compelling story, you will love Nahschuss. We licensed “Halt Dich an Deiner Liebe fest” by Ton Steine Scherben and “Fade To Grey” by Visage for this film by acclaimed director Franziska Stünkel.

Here’s what the story is about:

“The story is set in 1981 and is inspired by a certain period in recent German history – namely, the GDR years. Nahschuss refers to the real-life character of Dr Werner Teske, on whom the story is based. Teske was assassinated in East Germany for political reasons, and  he was killed by a close-range gunshot.” 

Nahschuss won Best Screenplay at the Munich Film Fest.
