UNICEF draw attention to the marks left by child abuse in latest campaign

International children’s charity UNICEF have launched a German campaign drawing attention to child abuse titled “Gewalt Hinterlässt Spuren” (“Violence leaves a mark”). We worked pro bono on the campaign, licensing a recording of Ravel‘s ‘Une barque sur l’océan’.

The film depicts children who are the victims of physical abuse and manifests their psychological scars as words marked into their bodies. It’s a powerful reminder of the impact of violence in the home, with otherwise normal looking domestic environments turned sinister by the echoes of abuse – a meal thrown against the wall, a belt still swinging on the arm of a chair, a hole punched in a door.
