Top Berlinale tidings for Elser (13 Minutes)
Fantastic news on the film front: Elser (13 Minutes), for which we secured the soundtrack, is screening at the Berlinale and has been picked up for international distribution!
Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall, Das Experiment) and starring The White Ribbon’s Christian Friedel, the film follows young carpenter Georg Elser as he becomes convinced that Germany’s charismatic chancellor will bring about a terrible future for the country, and begins to work up an ill-fated plan to assassinate Hitler.
Music was of great importance to Elser, making it a particular treat for us to supervise the film’s full soundtrack, from zither-led German traditionals to Argentine tango. The songs chosen complement a wonderful score by David Holmes, the Belfast musician and composer behind scores such as Ocean’s 11, 12 and 13 and Out of Sight. We’re over the moon to have worked on such a rewarding cinematic project, and to have seen it pick up such honours as Best Production at the Bavarian Film Awards, becoming one of the most highly anticipated films at this year’s Berlinale.
Elser (13 Minutes) has been picked up for distribution by Sony Pictures Classics. The film enjoys its worldwide premiere tomorrow at the Berlinale Palast (fleet-footed Berliners can still snatch up tickets for the 9:30 screening at the Friedrichstadt-Palast this Friday the 13th!) and will open nationwide in Germany on the 9th of April.
