Member Spotlight: Howard

Howard is a Brooklyn based folktronica artist signed to Fashion Records, as well as a Tracks & Fields member and synch-license alumni. Starting life as the Boston based outfit Orange Television, the group’s core members Howard Feibusch and Myles Heff became bored after 5 years living in Western Massachusetts. Relocating to Brooklyn and forming Howard, the band released their first record ‘Religion’ in late 2014.

The dulcet tones of singer Howard Feibusch recall the same rich timbre of Patrick Watson, but the songs are more detailed, less dramatic and hold their focus on a lighter, more relaxed brand of folk. The group avoid the trappings of going down the often obvious and saccharine indie-folk path, by employing stuttering electronics. While in a similar vein to artists like Electric President and The Postal Service, Howard make more use of space on their recordings, allowing them an intimacy the previous artists rarely capture.

We had the pleasure of licensing Howard’s track ‘Money Can’t Buy’ early last year in our spot for USA shoe brand Chaco. The breezy, light acoustic arpeggios combined with the soft croon of Feibusch helps reflect and resonate the feeling of the ad. This gives way to the relaxed, lush and sunbleached surroundings of Puerto Rico, which served as the location for the spot.

The band released their latest EP ‘Please Recycle‘ last year. Listen here:
