Mads B.B. Krog continues where he left off as producer of Ayoe Angelica’s debut album I’m Amazed (2008). He is the landscape architect who has crafted the strange and wonderful fragments, tumbling patterns, and subverted drums in this new offering, which is even rawer and more eclectic than its predecessor. This blossoming soundscape provides a playground for Ayoe’s sensual voice, a voice that bridges the sonic gaps in this changeable musical terrain. Well aware of the narrowness of the path she is following, Ayoe Angelica distances herself from the commercial motorway and ventures into a less traditional aesthetic. Dandelion is Ayoe’s debut as a lyricist, and the words she sings are words of love. We hear about love at the height of its day, and hear about it at its sunset, as a break up casts chilly shadows upon the beat. The English-language lyrics sway between atmospheres and emotions. They are simple and raw, like a peek at the uncensored pages of a young woman’s diary. “You might just as well ask me to take off all my clothes and walk naked down the main street as to read some of the lyrics aloud for you. I’d feel bare and exposed.” (Ayoe Angelica) D a n d e - lion paints a natural and unpretentious self-portrait of Ayoe Angelica: Strong in awareness of her own vulnerability. Her warm sensuality will entice the listener into a world of quiet pop and multilayered production. Standing proud outside the confines of any traditional musical genre, Dandelion creates a lawless space of its own, a space in which one can find one’s inner child and explore the depths of a melodically untamed universe.
