My Dashboard

Here you can access all your Tracks & Fields stuff — your, profile, contacts, messages, groups, projects and requests (collaborations), songs and samples.

Your Profile

This page is about YOU! Use it to represent yourself to other users and let them know what you're about. The more information you provide the better — this will help other users to find you and start collaborating.

Sessions

Simply put, sessions allow you to make music and collaborate on Tracks & Fields. You can use them to organise files and samples, access the Track & Fields online sequencer to record, arrange and mix your music and collaborate with other users by sharing access to session data.

Every session has it's own page on Tracks and Fields — use this to manage your session. You can set session pages to public or private (go to «Session Details» then «Session Privacy»).

  1. A private session page is your private home page for an individual song. It has a discussion board for the people involved and allows you to manage files and general information for that session. It has no public profile and is therefore only accessible to users that you have invited to take part in that session. Use this setting to keep your studio door closed to non collaborators.
  2. A public session page has the same basic functionality as a private session page but its profile (session details/description, files, members info and its discussion board) is accessible to all other users (you may still keep audio files private non–downloadable when running a public session). This setting allows you to keep your creative process open to ideas and inspiration from the community — you never know who might be keeping an eye on your masterpiece in the making!

Sessions allow you to organise data, make music and collaborate on specific songs, however a session must always be part of a parent «project».

Projects

Projects are containers for a collection of sessions. They function in a similar way to sessions, but are designed for ongoing collaborations or a collection of songs. «Project members» have shared access to all project data, whilst «Project Guests» have shared access to a specific session or combination of sessions within a project.

If you want to form a band on Tracks & Fields, create a project and invite people to become «project members.» If you're a solo artist wishing to collaborate with different musicians at different times, you could invite these people as «project guests» — this would only give them access to the specific sessions they're involved with.

Every project has a home page on Tracks and Fields — use this to manage your project — this can act as both a public profile for your band (you and your project members) and a home page for your work together. Like sessions, projects can be public or private. Currently however, projects can only be set to private or public when you create them.

  1. A private project page is your private home page for a specific project. It allows you to create sessions for specific songs and manage member/guest invitations, project files and general project details. It has no public profile and is therefore only accessible to users that you have invited as project members/guests.
  2. A public project page has the same basic functionality as a private project page but its profile (all project details, files, members and sessions) is accessible to all other users (you may still keep sessions and files private when running a public project).

Requests

Requests are the classifieds of Tracks & Fields — use them to request help with a project, find production jobs, join collaborations or remix songs from other users.

Requests are the perfect way to get connected with the right people — just provide a brief, a reference song or other reference material (e.g. a video), upload audio samples, name your fee if there is one, pick a deadline date and click «Launch Request.» You can also choose specific creative and/or business skills that you're looking for to aid your request. Remember — the more details you provide the better. This will help the right people to find your request and start collaborating with you. You can create a request from an existing session or start one totally from scratch.
